About Fleetwood Academy

Greetings! I'm Alisa Fleetwood, founder and President of Fleetwood Academy. I've had profound sensorineural bilateral hearing loss since birth. Despite growing up in a hearing family, I received intensive auditory and speech training during my formative years, which greatly enhanced my ability to communicate with the hearing world. While spoken English remains my primary language, I’ve used Cued Language since I was 10 years old and I am fully fluent in American Sign Language. I have spent over 20 years instructing ASL to high school students, helping them fulfill their foreign language credits. Additionally, I have dedicated countless hours volunteering in the deaf community, conducting Cued Language workshops for parents of deaf children of all ages and actively participating in the deaf ministry at my church.

I hold a bachelor's degree from Gallaudet University, the world's only liberal arts college for deaf individuals.
